Kindergarten Curriculum

Prep 1 - 3

Our Kindergarten curriculum is NCERT-aligned and guided by the National Curriculum Framework, emphasizing play-based, experiential, and child-centric learning. The teaching methodology focuses on learning through exploration, interaction, and hands-on activities, rather than rote instruction.

Concepts in language and early numeracy are introduced through stories, rhymes, phonics activities, manipulatives, games, and real-life experiences to ensure strong foundational understanding. Environmental awareness is integrated through observation, discussions, nature walks, and thematic activities that connect learning to the child’s immediate world.

Kindergarten Methodology

Teachers adopt a multi-sensory approach, incorporating visual aids, movement, music, art, and storytelling to cater to diverse learning styles. Small-group and individualized interactions allow teachers to support each child’s pace of learning, fostering confidence and independence.

Continuous observation-based assessment replaces formal testing, enabling educators to track progress in cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. This thoughtful methodology ensures a stress free, engaging, and nurturing environment that builds curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love for learning.

Message from Principal's desk

Every lump of clay holds within it the promise of form, strength and artistry. In the hands of a skilled potter, the clay is gently shaped, nurtured, and guided until it reveals its true beauty. The wheel and the touch do not impose, but rather facilitate the clay’s own transformation into something purposeful and unique.
At North Hills International School (NHIS), we embrace this philosophy and believe that every child is like clay—malleable, full of hidden potential, waiting to be moulded with care. Each child carries within them an innate ability that can be brought forth when provided with the right environment, encouragement and guidance. The true essence of education lies not in dictating form, but in giving children the freedom to experiment, the courage to discover.
“I cannot teach anybody anything; I can only make them think” – Socrates
We believe education is more than textbooks and tests—it’s about nurturing resilient, joyful young minds ready to thrive in an ever-changing world. We ignite creativity through arts, music and dance; cultivate curiosity with hands-on science labs, math labs, innovation clubs and develop financial literacy, problem solving skills, leadership skills through entrepreneurship; and instil values via community service and leadership workshops
Our school stands as a vibrant hub of learning, where academic excellence meets compassionate care, ensuring every child grows holistically. We prioritise your child’s mental and physical health as the foundation of true success. In our fast-paced lives, we weave mindfulness sessions, counselling support and stress-relief activities into the daily rhythm, helping students build emotional strength and self-awareness. Physically, our expansive playgrounds, sports academies and yoga programs energise bodies and sharpen focus, turning playtime into powerful lessons in teamwork and perseverance.
Picture a student who not only aces exams but also leads with empathy, solves real-world problems and cherishes lifelong friendships—these are the leaders we shape.
Socrates reminds us that thinking is real education when students are encouraged to question and reflect, learning becomes deeper and lasting.
Together, let us guide our children to stand strong when life takes unexpected turns, to kindle curiosity and imagination, to hold fast to integrity, to delight in the journey of learning and to discover within themselves the keys to shaping their own tomorrow.

As a Middle School Coordinator, I witness daily how transformative these years are. Middle school is a time of rapid academic, social and emotional growth. At this level, we guide students with intention and care. Our team builds voracious readers, critical thinkers, collaborative learners, confident performers and empathetic citizens. We challenge students to think deeply, question thoughtfully and grow in independence and integrity. We foster collaboration, resilience and initiative within a safe, inclusive environment, where every child feels known and valued. Together with parents, we nurture capable, compassionate young people prepared for high school and life beyond.

As Academic Coordinator for Grades 3–5 under the Central Board of Secondary Education framework, we value this crucial bridge phase (ages 8–11) where learning becomes more structured yet engaging. Students transition from “learning to read” to “reading to learn,” applying literacy and numeracy across subjects while strengthening critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Through Art-Integrated Learning, experiential activities and Physical Education, we nurture confident, compassionate and independent learners in a balanced, stimulating environment that supports holistic growth.

Teaching young learners in Primary is a joyful and meaningful journey. As a coordinator, I strongly believe that these foundational years play a vital role in shaping a child’s love for learning. At this stage, children are naturally curious, energetic, and eager to explore the world around them. Our responsibility as educators is to nurture that curiosity with care, patience, and creativity.
In our classrooms, learning goes beyond textbooks. We focus on building strong basics in reading, writing, numeracy, and communication skills through interactive activities, storytelling, hands-on experiences, and collaborative learning. We create a safe and positive environment where every child feels valued, confident, and encouraged to express themselves.
We also emphasize values such as responsibility, kindness, respect, and independence, helping children grow not only academically but also socially and emotionally. Through consistent guidance and encouragement, we aim to make learning enjoyable and meaningful for every child.
I work closely with our dedicated teachers to ensure that teaching strategies are child-centered, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. Together, we strive to lay a strong foundation that prepares our young learners for lifelong success.
